Yehyun Song ‘25
Hello~ My name is Yehyun Song (He/Him) and I am part of the Class of 2025! I am originally from South Korea and my family emigrated to America when I was 5 years old. From civil rights advocacy to public policymaking, I am majoring in Political Science and concentrating on Peace, Justice & Human Rights. I am involved in a variety of clubs and organizations, such as Chesick, Korean Culture Club (KCC), Political Science Student Group (PSSG), Affinity Group Coalition (AGC), Haverford Undocu+ Group (HUG), and more! It is my hope to continue serving and uplifting the Haverford student body and community and beyond. In my free time, I enjoy playing the acoustic guitar, brewing coffee + espresso, investing in fashion and refining my style, and cooking Korean food. As my Chesick FLI Student Leaders have been such great sources of comfort, wisdom, and joy, I too hope to be someone who can help you navigate your unique and special journey at Haverford. Aysha Syeda ‘26
Welcome class of 2027!! I'm Aysha Syeda (she/her) and I'm a rising sophomore pursuing a major in Biology (I think) and a minor in Health Studies. I am currently on the premed track and preparing myself for bio and orgo! I was born in Pakistan and spent the first few years of my life there, but was mostly raised in Carteret, New Jersey. At Haverford, you can find me playing badminton, volleyball, or by the swings. I am also the Events Coordinator for Muslim Student Association, Writing Center peer tutor, Biology Student Researcher, and of course your FLI SL! For my Questies out there, I am also a Questbridge scholar so be sure to let me know. In my free time, I like to binge watch shows and/or anime, depending on how I am feeling. I also love taking walks and am excited to become a chef in my little kitchen in the apartments. Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask your questions!! Trisha Phan ‘24
Ciao! I'm Trisha (she/her) and a senior majoring in chemistry with a minor in health studies. I am a first-generation college student, second-generation Vietnamese immigrant, and grew up in a low-income household in a little town called Cape Coral in Florida. I'm pre-med and have worked in research labs including Lou Charkoudian's at Haverford and Larissa Shimoda's at Johns Hopkins. I am currently doing a CPGC fellowship with Caribbean Community in Philadelphia on sexual health, drug addiction, and mental health. I had trouble navigating these spaces as an underclassman and hope I can be a resource for other FGLI students in STEM. On campus I love dancing with my hip-hop team, Bounce, working at the CF art gallery, and recently planned Haverfest! Off campus, I can recommend every coffee shop within a 10 mile radius of Haverford and have a long list of things to do in Philly.
Deep Patel ‘25
Howdy! My name is Deep Patel, my pronouns are he/him/his, and I am a Physics major and Environmental Studies minor in the class of 2025. I am from Bristol, Pennsylvania (near Northeast Philly). On campus, you can find me partaking in any of the following: Varsity Cricket, Varsity Men's Fencing, Club Soccer, Lame Ducks Ice Hockey, Rock Climbing Club, Big Donkey Ultimate, and Haverford Judo. You can also find me supporting Afreen, a South Asian dance group I danced with), leading the Haverford community through Public Observing at the Strawbridge Observatory, performing my duties as an Honor Council Representative, or gaming with the Valorant Protocol. My other hobbies include drawing and complete bizarre crafts (ask me about making soap or smelting aluminum)! Genesis Woods ‘26
Hi there! My name is Genesis Woods, and I currently live in Columbus, GA. I’m a rising sophomore who is planning to major in Biology and minor in Music. Music brings me a lot of joy, so you might see me on campus performing with my a cappella group, singing with the chamber singers, playing piano, or even participating in a play. In my free time, I’m most likely to be found in the GIAC playing volleyball, ping-pong, or badminton with friends. Some groups that I’m a part of are the BSL, COCO, and ALAS. I am also a Questbridge scholar. I am on the pre-med track to become either a surgical technician or a physician’s assistant in the future! If anyone ever has trouble with general chemistry, I’m already happy to help! Congratulations to you, class of 2027! You have come so far, and I cannot wait to meet you all. Hi! I'm Shiza (she/hers)! I'm a rising senior from Queens, NY, majoring in Sociology and double minoring in Computer Science and Data Science all at Bryn Mawr. I'm really committed to creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen and heard. Back at home, I love working with my local Nepali and AAPI organizations. On campus, I work at the Office of Academic Resources (OAR) as a Community Building and Outreach intern. I'm also passionate about tech and creating inclusive pathways into this field so I'm looking forward to pursuing more of that in the future. Aside from that, I love weightlifting and have mentored multiple women, teaching them the fundamentals and helping them get into it. I look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Hello everyone! My name is Naraly Mayorquin and I’m a rising junior originally from Newark, Nj (no jersey slander plz). I'm a psychology major and enjoy taking courses in all the domains Haverford has to offer. On campus you can usually find me in some study room catching up on homework, in founders garden level working with the constituent engagement department, in the GIAC playing some volleyball, or out and about with my friends. On weekends you are likely to find me watching a movie somewhere or bouncing the campus parties. I enjoy exploring different genders of music and growing my plant collection. I am super excited to meet you all and I hope to help make you guys feel welcome and supported.

Hi Everyone! My name is Siena Emuobor (she/her) and I am a rising junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Health Studies. I’m Nigerian and Senegalese but was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. On campus, I’m a Lutnick Library Liaison, Access Diversity and Inclusion Intern, and I’m on the Women’s basketball team! Hi all! My name is Be Storie and I am a rising junior at Haverford college. I am working to receive my Bachelor's degree in Anthropology with minors in Archaeology, Religion, and Classics. When I'm not in the library, you can find me working at James House as a Quaker Bouncer with my yellow bandana. I also work for customs and the reuse store, and I help choreograph dances for the Bounce hip-hop team. In between all these activities, I love to hang out with my wonderful friends, read science fiction, and play Pokemon Go. Welcome to the Chesick Program!

Hi! My name is Melanie Santiago (she/her), and I’m from the Poconos, Pennsylvania. I'm in class of 2025 and am majoring in physics with a possible minor in astronomy. On campus, I am co-head for the Valorant Protocol (am addicted to Valorant) and want to join club soccer this upcoming school year. I also love listening to music, reading, working out, napping, and want to get into crocheting. Horizons helped me make Haverford a home and I hope to help you all feel similarly! Hello! My name is Boahen Kwakye (Bo), I'm a rising senior Biology major at Haverford College born and raised in the Bronx, New York. On campus, I regularly attend COCO meetings and Men's Varsity Track and Field Team members as a short-distance sprinter. Hey Y'all! My name is Erick Iraheta (he/him). I'm from West New York, New Jersey, a predominantly Latino, Spanish-speaking community. I am a prospective English and Anthropology Major with a concentration in Creative Writing. I'm a liaison at the Haverford Quaker & Special Collections library, and a 2023 Summer intern for the Chesick office. I am also a Quest Bridge Scholar. Hello, friend! My name is Yasmin (she/her) and I am a prospective Economics major in the Class of 2026 from Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. During my free time I love to go for a walk in the Nature Trail, workout at the gym, and to spend time with my friends - I'm also pretty much always listening to music. On campus I am part of the ALAS board as the head of the Institutional Memory Committee and I am also on the Haverford Microfinance Consulting Club. I also work in the library for the Collection Management and Metadata Services department and I will be working as an Admissions Office Fellow and Writing Center tutor this year. One of my goals is to explore the surroundings of the College and Philly more this coming year. Congratulations to the Class of 2027 and I can't wait to meet you! Hello! My name is Ilani Lark and I'm from Springfield, Massachusetts. I'm majoring in English with a Spanish and Health Studies minor. On campus, I'm currently co-head of an amazing affinity group called ALAS (Alliance of Latin American Students)! Hello! My name is Andrea (they/them), and I am a prospective Anthropology major and Gender and Sexuality Studies concentrator of the class of 2026. My academic interests are in the fields of undocumented scholarship, migration studies, citizenship studies, and queer and trans studies. I have worked for Quaker Special Collections and the Gender and Sexuality program. I am from Colombia, and an active board member of the Alliance of Latin American Students (ALAS). Hi! My name is Lorelle, and I'm class of '25! This is my second year as a Chesick Scholar FLI SL, and my third year being involved with the program. Another job I've had is working for the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship as a Social Media / Graphic Design Assistant. In my free time on the weekends I'm a Quaker Bouncer! I'm from northern New Jersey. Some of my favorite musical artists are Bad Bunny, SZA, and Kid Cudi. Hello! My name is Christian Castillo (he/him). I’m born and raised in Oakland, CA (west side the best side). At Haverford, I'm majoring in Chemistry and minoring in health studies and maybe Spanish, while also concentrating in biochemistry and being pre-med. Hi, my name is Kabir Alvaro Hinduja-Obregon and a rising sophomore. I am an Indian Latino American who loves anything to do with Football ( Socc*r), whether it's playing, coaching, or simply watching the sport. I was last year's Freshman representative on the Students' Council and am really passionate about student advocacy. I am really interested in physics, political science, and health to name a few topics and enjoy learning about ways to mobilize knowledge to benefit our communities. I also play a lot of table tennis, pool, and video games, and can talk non stop about most movies, and can't wait to start this year off as a FLI-SL!

Hey!! My name is Victoria Haber, but I also go by Vi or Vic. I’m here reppin’ part of the class of 2026 and I’m so hyped to meet you all! I come from the good ol’ state of Arizona, but I am of Cuban descent. I’m intending to do either a pre-med track or a psychology major with a minor either in philosophy or Italian language (too many choices to be made). Outside of my academics, I love hitting the gym, drawing, reading, and just listening to music (any Rina Sawayama fans?). I also work at the library, so come by to chat a bit! Honestly, you can usually find me at the library anyways so we’ll chat one way or another~! Nevertheless, I cannot wait to see you all, and congrats on making it! Hi, everyone! I am Valerie Heredia Piñeiro, and I am from Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. I'm a Neuroscience major and a French (and maybe psych) minor. On campus, you might catch me bouncing a party (go Quaker Bouncers!), working at the Nest, or you could make an appointment with me at the Writing Center. I also manage the French Table, so if you see me with a French flag at the DC, stop by and say salut! Outside of work and academics, I love going to ALAS, KCC, and COCO events, and singing A capella with the Outskirts! The Chesick community has been an integral part of my transition to college and of my college life, so I hope to be able to help you all feel comfortable as well. So excited to meet you!

Hey everyone! My name is Victor Jimenez (he/him) and I am a rising sophomore pursuing a major in biology and a math minor. I come from a Colombian background but was born in Mt Holly, New Jersey, until I later moved down to West Palm Beach, Florida. On campus, I am a prominent member of the Alliance of Latin American students, and like to play Club Soccer on occasions. I also love to go to the gym, and play video games when I am free.

Hey everyone! My name is Keyla Ramirez (she/her). I’m from Houston, Texas (go ‘stros!) and I’m an Economics major and a Spanish minor. On campus, I’ve been part of the board of ALAS through multiple committees (and was even an emcee for La Gala woo!). I have also had multiple jobs across campus, including at Lutnick Library, in Stokes, and in the WCC. If you’re ever looking for me and I’m not in any of those places I’m probably in my room blasting UMI or Santa Fe Klan while working on homework. I’m very excited to see what this year has to offer and am wishing nothing but good luck and positive energy as we all embark on this new journey!

Hey everyone! I’m Jalexie Ureña (she/hers) and my family is Dominican but I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I’m a Psychology major and EALC minor (will likely study abroad in Korea this year!). I hope to one day become a therapist as well as a published author/poet. Cooking/culinary arts is a big hobby of mine (I have a whole instagram food blog lol) and I'm a part of the bi-co dance group Haverritmo where I do latin dance and hip hop! I can also be caught playing the occasional sudoku or nonogram to discover new strategies. Off campus, I love trying different restaurants and going on walks in Ardmore. I also love making a good playlist and am always down to talk about music!! Chesick, and more specifically Horizons, played a big role in my transition to college and finding my place at Haverford, so I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and hopefully providing the same welcoming environment!
