Allopathic (MD) and Osteopathic (DO) Medical Schools
Allopathic physicians (MD) and osteopathic physicians (DO) train side by side, take the same qualifying exams, and attend the same residency and fellowship programs.
MD
MD (Doctor of Medicine):
- Physicians with this degree adhere to allopathic medicine practices, treating pathologies using a range of drugs, surgeries, or therapeutic interventions.
- MDs attend Allopathic Medical Colleges
DO
DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine):
- Physicians with this degree are trained in allopathic medicine practices, alongside additional training in holistic healthcare and osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).
- DOs attend Osteopathic Medical Colleges
