Student Health Insurance Plan
Each year, all students are automatically billed the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium charge by the Controller's Office. If you have any questions regarding SHIP billing, please contact Mark Pierfy (mpierfy@haverford.edu).
UnitedHealthcare Student Insurance (SHIP)
Students must complete a waiver on the First Student site by August 1, 2020 to have the SHIP charge removed. First-Year students should submit their waivers by July 6, 2020 to have the SHIP charge removed prior to tuition bills being issued. It takes 5 business days to see the charge removed from your tuition bill. International students are automatically enrolled in SHIP and may not waive their coverage. Several email reminders are sent directly from FirstRisk (SHIP) to each student to enroll or waive.
The option to enroll or waive SHIP will be available on the First Student site by June 5, 2020. Only new incoming students for the Spring semester are eligible to enroll in Spring/Summer coverage.
All students are required to have personal medical insurance and must provide proof of insurance via the HaverHealth portal. The College suggests purchasing the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) if you have a high deductible, HMO, or out of state insurance plan that does not work well in the Philadelphia area. If purchasing the SHIP, please download your Insurance ID card and upload (both sides) to the HaverHealth portal.
