Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
All registered F-1 international students will be automatically enrolled in SHIP. All full-time registered undergraduate students are required to purchase SHIP unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.
All students are required to complete the Enrollment of the Waiver process whether international or domestic. To Enroll or Waive, visit firststudent.com, select Haverford College, click either the Enroll Now – Health Insurance or the Waive Your School’s Health Insurance button and follow the directions.
Each year, all students are automatically billed the SHIP premium charge by the Controller's Office. Please allow 3-5 business days to see the SHIP charge removed from the tuition bill. If you have any questions regarding SHIP billing, please dmack [at] haverford.edu (contact Delicia Mack).

Haverford College suggests purchasing SHIP if you have a high deductible, HMO, or out-of-state insurance plan that is not considered "in-network" in the Philadelphia area. After you have enrolled or waived coverage, please download your insurance card and upload (both sides) to the HaverHealth portal. SHIP no longer sends health insurance cards in the mail. Cards are available through the First Risk portal.
All students are required to upload proof of medical insurance to the HaverHealth portal by 8/1/2021. A late fee of $75.00 will be issued if proof of medical insurance is not received by this date.
Students insured with SHIP will receive emailed instructions on how to create a MyAccount and access their electronic ID card. From their MyAccount at www.firststudent.com website, ID cards can be downloaded, faxed, emailed or printed. Additionally, students can request delivery of an ID card through the U.S. mail from their MyAccount. Access to ID card information is also available on UHCSR mobile app, available on App Store or Google Play.
Starting on the effective date of your coverage under the student insurance plan, you have 24/7 access to medical advice through HealthiestYou, a national telehealth service. by calling the toll-free number listed on the front of your medical ID card or visiting www.telehealth4students.com you have access to board-certified physicians via phone and/ or video, where permitted. This service is especially helpful for minor illnesses, such as allergies, sore throat, earache, pink eye, ect. based on the condition being treated, the doctor can also prescribe certain medications, saving you a trip to the doctor's office. Using HealthiestYou can save you money and time. As an insured with StudentResources, there is no consultation fee for the service*. Every call with a HealthiestYou doctor is covered 100% during your policy period.
Enroll or Waive SHIP
Deadline: August 5, 2021
The website to enroll or waive will open June 14, 2021.

The College suggests purchasing the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) if you have a high deductible, HMO, or out of state insurance plan that does not work well in the Philadelphia area.
Change of Insurance
Eligible students who lose their current coverage through no fault of their own are eligible to enroll as a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) within 30 days after losing their coverage. Email customerservice [at] firstriskadvisors.com (subject: QLE%20Inquiry) (customerservice @ firstriskadvisors.com) for more details about enrolling as a QLE.
U.S. citizens who have insurance may waive SHIP and have the charge removed from their bill.

SHIP Claim Reimbursement Directions
You may hc-healthservices [at] haverford.edu (subject: Itemized%20Bill%20Request) (request an itemized bill) to send to your insurance provider for reimbursement after your visit at Health Services. Here's how to file your claim with First Risk:
- After you have paid for your visit and have a receipt, request from Health Services a Health Insurance Claim Form. Health Insurance Claim Forms can be mailed or picked up during normal business hours.
- Login to your First Risk Account. If you have not created an account, you will need to create a login before your claim can be submitted.
- Scroll to My Claims/ Balances
- Submit Health Insurance Claim Form with payment receipt.

Vision & Dental
Please contact your health insurance provider to verify in-network coverage. Students under 19 years of age that are enrolled in SHIP will also have pediatric dental and vision benefits included. However, on the day they turn 19 years old the pediatric benefits are no longer available.
