Ongoing Group Therapy
Prior to joining a group, students attend an individual meeting with a CAPS therapist to ensure that group therapy is a good fit and to ask any questions about group therapy. Once in group therapy, you work with both the therapist and other group members to explore and address the issues that are bothering them. In addition, there is open discussion in real time about the dynamics of the group itself. You may participate in individual counseling and group therapy simultaneously.
Group therapy offers a space in which students can explore a range of topics including- but not limited to- interpersonal relationships, anxiety, depression, difficult life events, and self understanding. Once in group, students can benefit from the support of both the CAPS therapist and other members of the group. Students may participate in individual counseling and group therapy simultaneously. In order to join group, fill out the appointment request form indicate your interest in group therapy. From there, you will have an individual informational meeting with the group leader to get to know you, answer any questions, and determine whether group therapy feels like a good fit at this time. For any other questions about group therapy, reach out to Jon Krigel, the Group Therapy Coordinator, at jkrigel [at] haverford.edu.
