This fall, Haverford College will begin an executive search for the Chief Diversity Officer of the College. To volunteer or nominate someone else to serve or as a staff representative to this search committee, please complete the linked forms above by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 2nd. Staff members supervised by the Interim CDO are not eligible to serve as staff representatives on this search committee.
The work of the CDO includes, but it is not limited to:
- Working with students, faculty and staff to make Haverford College a more welcoming place, where all know that they belong, and that their voices are heard.
- Providing multiple spaces for sharing ideas about how to make the community more welcoming and inclusive.
- Working with Senior Staff to provide the financial resources to support programs and initiatives focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism.
- Providing funding for student-initiated programs on diversity, inclusion, equity, and antiracism.
Time Commitment:
Representatives to the CDO search committee should expect to attend 3-4 meetings this fall, followed by a more intensive time commitment in the winter for candidate interviews (# and duration to be determined by the committee). Staff representatives also serve as members (or ex officio members) of the Staff Association Executive Committee (SAEC) and should plan to attend its monthly meetings during their appointments.
Staff Rep Selection Process:
From the pool of volunteers and nominees, the Staff Association Executive Committee will nominate four (4) staff representatives to serve on the CDO search committee. The search chair(s) will then select two of the nominees to serve as staff representatives to the committee for the duration of the search.
For questions, please contact Julie Miller, Vice Chair of the Staff Association, at jmiller1 [at] haverford.edu.

Staff Association members are encouraged to nominate themselves or others for open positions as appointees are selected from among the volunteers and nominees who have confirmed that they are willing to serve if appointed.
