Crisis Support Resources
The following agencies provide various types of crisis support, such as suicide prevention, crisis helplines, victim assistance services and support, and/or mental health and suicide prevention resources.
Crisis helplines are not designed to provide ongoing counseling and case management, but are meant to help in moments of crisis to provide stabilization and safety, and direct individuals towards ongoing support. Some of the agencies listed below may offer additional ongoing services outside of their agency’s helpline service.

Operated by RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network). Free, confidential 24/7 helpline. English and Spanish speaking support available. This organization provides various free services including connecting individuals to local health facilities for care and forensic exams, connecting individuals to local resources for long-term healing, safety and prevention resources, providing information on laws in one’s community, providing helpline talk support, and sharing educational resources. “The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ young people. We provide information & support to LGBTQ young people 24/7, all year round.” The Trevor Project is a free, confidential service. The Trevor Project also offers opportunities to connect with other LGBTQ young people through an online social community called TrevorSpace, as well as a resource center with articles on various topics.

Free, confidential peer-support, information, and local resources provided by members of the LGBTQIA+ community. For more information and resources, including one-to-one online peer support chat with a peer volunteer, and moderated safe spaces for youth through weekly youth chat rooms. The LGBT National Help Center website provides a variety of resources and articles, including connection to local support, self-harm prevention and self-care resources, and media resources (online, film, and book).

Haverford College is located in both Montgomery and Delaware counties. An individual’s location on campus will determine which County Crisis Unit responds. Campus Safety (610) 896-1111 (available 24/7) can help direct an individual to the appropriate county resource/response team.
