Along with the faculty in the Philosophy Department, Marilou was by far the most influential adult during my four years in College. Marilou invited me to learn about and be challenged by the world in ways that were new and exciting and scary. She helped me understand that involvement in the neighborhoods and cities around me could both reward and also be rewarding, that those experiences could anger me and also energize me, that the connections I could make would let me teach and also let me learn, and always grow. Marilou's inspiration has carried through the 25 years since graduation, that mischievous and loving voice in the back of my head always asking, “You don’t like it? So what are you going to do about it?...”
