The Marilou Allen Office of Service & Community Collaboration (OSCC) works with both the Dean's Office (on the Diversity Access & Community Engagement team) and the Center for Peace & Global Citizenship to help build local relationships and partnerships, and position Haverford's campus as a welcoming gathering place for Ardmore community members.
Haverford students volunteer in co-curricular projects supported by the OSCC. Student leaders organize on-campus and off-campus service days, week-long service trips, and manage weekly projects as part of a well-rounded liberal arts education. The OSCC also provides guidance in finding the right volunteer opportunity with non-profits in the Philadelphia region.
Serendipity Day Camp
Serendipity Day Camp channels the community-centered spirit of camp founder Marilou Allen. Serendipity offers financial assistance, allowing those in greatest need the opportunity to have their child attend.
Civic Engagement Map
Want to volunteer with a local organization but don't know where to start? Email us at hc-service [at] haverford.edu and we can help find an organization that would be a good fit, or check out the Civic Engagement Map and search for places that Haverford has worked with in the past!
The OSCC will reimburse students for travel costs incurred on individual service projects.
- Reimbursement is for public transportation or mileage only. Ride-share services can be reimbursed in the amount of an equivalent public transportation fare, or if there were 3 or more students in the vehicle, can be refunded the full amount (please include student names in request).
- Reimbursements cannot be processed without receipts. Submit receipts to ejohnson3 [at] haverford.edu (Emily Johnson) for processing.
