Admission Volunteers
Admission volunteers raise the visibility of Haverford and provide important personal contact that prospective students and their families hope to find throughout the college search process.
Current Opportunities
Alumni admission volunteers must be able to agree to the Admission Principles of Good Practice when registering as an active admission volunteer.
Interviewing Prospective Students Virtually
This year all interviews will be conducted virtually due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to prioritize pairings based on geographic location when possible. The interview is informational and evaluative and your personal contact can make a significant difference for individuals with limited knowledge about the distinguishing features of a Haverford education.
Attending In-Person College Fairs
Many high schools and community centers will organize college fairs to expose students to a variety of options. You may be asked to represent Haverford at a college fair hosted by a high school in your area. Most events will take place in the evening. If you do not feel comfortable attending these events in person due to evolving pandemic circumstances, please let us know if you are asked to attend.
Outreach to Families of Admitted Students
This past year, after students in Regular Decision were admitted, volunteers emailed and called students’ parent(s)/guardian(s) to offer congratulations and help them learn about Haverford prior to making their enrollment decision. Our goal is to support families through the decision-making process by giving them opportunities to engage more informally with members of our community. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from volunteers about this program and have decided to continue it.
