Lou is a proud alumna of Haverford College (Class of 2003). She earned her Ph.D. in chemistry at Duke University under the mentorship of Professor Kathy Franz, where she developed her skillset as a bioinorganic chemist. After graduating from Duke, Lou joined Professor Chaitan Khosla’s lab at Stanford University, where she expanded her skillset to include the concepts and techniques of bioorganic chemistry and chemical engineering. She began her faculty position at Haverford in 2013.
Research & Teaching
Lou's research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of organic chemistry and biology. She enjoys collaborating with undergraduate students the classroom and laboratory to understand how nature drives chemical innovation, and how humans can leverage this information to discover environmentally responsible routes to novel therapeutic agents.
