I am fascinated by the visual beauty in the natural world and I am also curious about how organisms evolve and adapt to their environment. My lab will study how monkeyflowers (Mimulus) adapt to their animal pollinators, with the goal to understand the genetic/genomic changes underlying the floral variation in color, shape, and scent etc. In the meanwhile, as an individual of the Homo sapiens species migrated from the Old World, I am also adapting to the challenges in the New World.
When I am not doing science, I enjoy reading (history, adventure, and ancient Chinese poems are my favorites), hiking, meeting with friends, as well as playing guitar with my toddler son.
