  • The website named Waits, who shares her passion for college radio on her blog Spinning Indie, one of the top 10 individuals who have mattered most to college media over the past academic year.

  • Four bi-co students are spending the summer volunteering for various organizations in Mexico City through a program sponsored by the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship.
  • The Middle States Commission on Higher Education awarded Haverford unqualified reaccreditation after a two-year review process that engaged more than 50 Haverford faculty, staff, students and alumni in the crafting of a detailed Self-Study Report.
  • Through a program funded by the CPGC, six bi-co students are learning about Indonesian culture and conducting research on human rights and social justice.
  • Julia Hofheimer '12 is interning in Senator Blanche Lincoln's office in Washington, DC.
  • Ellen Freeman '11 has been interviewing artists all summer and updating a blog in promotion for the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe in September.
  • Joseph Ramirez '13 is conducting physics research at the University of Puerto Rico this summer thanks to funding from Haverford's Multicultural Scholars Program.
  • Chloe Tucker '07, Musa Hamideh '09 and Samee Sulaiman '10 all work for Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, a Philadelphia organization that provides education in Arabic language, arts and culture to young people from diverse backgrounds. This year, Al-Bustan's three-week summer camp focused on the traditions of the United Arab Emirates.
  • Rachel Lim '12 is spending the summer in Seoul, Korea teaching English, learning about the divide between North and South Korea and exploring her identity as a Korean American.
  • Seth Kennedy '12 is interning with a union in Chicago to help mobilize campaigns for workers' rights.
  • Four recent bi-co graduates are engaging in various projects in South Africa, Swaziland, Nigeria, Nairobi, and Germany, thanks to Senior Bridge funding from the CPGC.
  • Janna Frieman '11 is examining abortion policy and the election cycle with NARAL Pro-Choice in Boston.
  • Laura Gilroy '11 is interning this summer at an orphanage for handicapped children and working with HIV-positive patients in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Martha Van Artsdalen, Haverford's plant curator, was recently interviewed for an article that appeared in the Delaware County News. Van Artsdalen is responsible for keeping an inventory of and caring for all of the trees and shrubs in the College's arboretum, which is over 100 years old.

  • Hilary Malson '11 is designing an online exhibit as an intern with the Library Company of Philadelphia.
