Student Leaders
GRASE Student Associates are current Haverford students who are passionate about issues related to gender and sexuality. GRASE Student Associates collaborate with the Director of the Center, campus partners, and student organizations in developing and implementing events, workshops, and special initiatives. GRASE Student Associates also serve as a liaison between the Center and the student body to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community promoting gender and sexuality equity. At the core of all GRASE Center’s programming is a social and racial justice framework that promotes student development, co-curricular learning, and community building.

Rubi Rivas ‘23
she/they
Senior Associate
Hello! My name is Rubí Rivas '23 (she/they) and I am the Senior Associate at GRASE. I am double majoring in Biology and Spanish. Some of my hobbies include dance, listening to music, learning languages, and judo. At GRASE, I will be supporting the other interns as well as helping with organizing events. I am especially interested in creating space for QTBIPOC on campus. This year I created a club on campus called Queer AND to focus on intersectional identities. I am also on the board for the Alliance for Latin American Students (ALAS), a Chesick Scholar Student Leader, and a Questbridge Scholar. Another job I have is being a TA for Spanish 101. I'm quite familiar with the different resources on campus now that I'm a senior so let me know any questions you may have about navigating Haverford. Please feel free to reach out about any of these things! I always love to talk with people about how to create more programming on campus to create community! :)

Vic Brown ‘23
he/they
LGBTQIA+ Program Associate
Hi everyone! My name is Vic Brown '23 (he/they), and I'm a Literature of English major and Education minor at Bryn Mawr. I am so excited to join the GRASE Team as a LGBTQIA+ Program Associate. In my previous work with the OMA, I intended to create and facilitate safe and joyous QTBIPOC spaces, as well as encourage queer voices on campus to speak on their experience. I hope to continue this work here and more, through creating programming and hosting events that center queer people/queer people of color. A little about me personally: I am a big animation fan (animated movies, tv shows, anime, etc.), love reading teen and speculative fiction, and enjoy making others laugh, and having a good laugh myself! If you enjoy these things or want to talk more about programming you would like to see, feel free to come to my drop-in hours, I look forward to meeting you!

Emily Kavic
she/her
LGBTQIA+ Program Associate
Emily Kavic (she/her) is an advocate for all things mental health. Her recent internship as a GRASE LGBTQIA+ Program Associate has enabled her to tie this passion into the worlds of gender, sexuality, and identity at large. Previously the head of an eating disorder advocacy group geared towards teenagers, she is now adapting her body of activism to a world where identity needn't be governed by medical history. Outside of her work in eating disorder recovery, she wears many caps, not least among them being lover of languages, author, and Zumba enthusiast to the stars. A first-year, she intends to study some combination of English, math, and linguistics.
Thaiana Zandona
she/her
Gender Equity Associate
Hi everyone, my name is Thaiana, I use she/her pronouns, and this year I will be working with the GRASE center as a Gender Equity Assocaite. I'm a freshman year at Haverford College, probably majoring in Political Science. Before coming here, I spent part of my time working on social projects mostly related to feminism, education, and gender equity. I'm excited to work and advocate more for women and femme on campus, so feel free to talk to me and share your ideas, concerns, or feedback, we can really just chat for a bit. I want to help to create a more thoughtful and empowered community, especially when we are talking about building resources, ways, and opportunities.

Lauren Handler
she/her
Wellness Associate
I'm Lauren (she/her), a senior Psychology major and Health Studies minor at Haverford. I'm broadly interested in how the lived environment shapes experiences and equitable Healthcare access, particularly among marginalized communities. As the Gender Equity Associate, I will be looking into ways we can promote overall wellness and support students seeking reproductive healthcare. I hope to leave Haverford having left sustainable initiatives that facilitate a safer, more positive environment for students to grow as individuals and scholars.

Sophia Cosma '26

George Allan
he/they
Exhibition Associate
Hey everyone! My name is George Allan, I use he/they pronouns, and I’m a senior at Haverford. I’m super excited to be working with GRASE this year to put on a series of events/exhibitions on Haverford’s queer past and present. I’m hoping that by doing so I can help students know a little bit more about Haverford’s rich queer history, as well as encourage reflection on the current state of queer life on campus.
