"hi, i love you"
Work by Athena Intanate ’23
VCAM Exhibition Wall
Opening Reception: Friday, April 28, 4:30pm
It's hard to imagine the person I'd be today if I hadn't come to this place. Haverford, for me, will always be some of the most defining years of my life: all the growth that we've shared together, all the heartbreak and grief that we've weathered through, all the love that we've gifted each other. Composed of the film photographs I've taken of my nearest and dearest the past four years, "hi, i love you" also draws from all the text messages I've received that have put a smile on my face, all the songs that remind me of spaces I love.
I started composing this project as a photobook the fall of my freshman year, and now that I'm a senior, it's such a joy to see how it still very much encapsulates the nostalgia of my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. "hi, i love you" is an exhibition dedicated to all the people I've met at this place, spanning the class of 2020 to the class of 2026. Even if our relationships have changed, I am still so grateful for your presence in my life. You have made me become the fuller, better version of myself. I am more me, because I have met you. In looking at these fragments, I hope that you, too, can relive some of your own memories of this place.
What an absolute pleasure it has been to be here with you.
