Join Haverford biology students and Professor Robert Fairman for this interactive talk exploring the connection between trees and human health! The Fairman lab aims to identify tree compounds with the ability to prevent protein aggregation, which is regarded as the driver of many neurodegenerative diseases. After a discussion of the traditional use of plants for medicinal purposes and an overview of the lab’s research efforts, you will be given a tour of the lab and also get to have a meet-and-greet with the tree-mendous stars of this lab’s research: the sugar maple, red maple, and others! Come learn about the important role the Arboretum plays in research at Haverford and the exciting findings that students have been making in the lab!
