Race relations was the focus of a panel discussion held in the spring of 1999, when a group of Haverford students and journalists from national and regional news organizations talked about the current climate on college campuses and in the workplace.
Moderated by an editorial board member of The Philadelphia Daily News, Linda Wright Moore, the students and members of the media compared the climate of race relations on campuses today with the press' experiences when they attended college. The reporters and editors also talked about diversity in their newsrooms.
The panelists included the education editor of The New York Times, the higher education writer for USA Today, the executive editor of Black Issues in Higher Education, an editorial board member of The Philadelphia Inquirer, and students ALESA Blanchard-Nelson '99, David Kanthor '99, Stephanie Lacambra '01, Rosebud Buruku '02 and Lisette Osorio '01.
