That same year she became the youngest wind player ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, joining the Young Concert Artists roster.
Mimi Stillman is now one of the most highly regarded flutists in the concert world today. "A magically gifted flautist, a breath of fresh air," wrote The Washington Post after her acclaimed recital at the Kennedy Center. "A seasoned artist of spirited, unbridled virtuosity," according to the New York Concert Review.
GUEST ARTIST SERIES: CONCERT IV (3:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in Roberts Hall)
Presenting the Philadelphia-based vocal group Lyric Fest. Tickets are $15 (General); $12 (Senior); $8 (Students); $5 (7-17). Free parking is available along with shuttle service from the visitors' parking lot, and the auditorium is wheelchair accessible. For program information and/or ticket reservation call (610) 896-1011.
Born of a passion for word and song, Lyric Fest was conceived to bring people together through the shared experience of song. Their concerts give context to the rich heritage of vocal music that has been handed down through the centuries and which hails from around the globe. By blending a pianist, singers, the spoken word—and spiced with audience interaction and even dance—Lyric Fest seeks to explore and celebrate the dynamic possibilities of song.
"Lyric Fest's program formed an impressive yet unaffected definition of 'diversity', performed with both artistry and energy. Its surest sign of success was having entranced its audience, both young and old," wrote Michael Caruso, Chestnut Hill Local.
