Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2187 Sřren Kierkegaard is considered by many to be one of the most important philosophical thinkers of the nineteenth century. Some of his works read like novels and others like Platonic discourses. The engaging nature of his writing style has made him one of the most popular philosophers of all time. This course examines two books by Kierkegaard, Philosophical Crumbs, and Concluding Unscientific Postscript to the Philosophical Crumbs, that together provide the reader with a good overall grasp of the substance of his thought. The topics addressed in these works include the nature of subjectivity, the relation between thought and action, the meaning of teaching and learning, and the role of paradox in human existence.
