Additional Course Info | Class Number: 1470 This is a topics course. Course content varies. Not all topics are open to first year students.; Current topic description: A graph is a set of vertices (dots) connected by edges (line segments) that can be used to model a network of some kind. In this course we ask questions, look for patterns, make conjectures, and try to prove our observations about graphs. We explore pure mathematical terrain, and pause for a few practical applications along the way. Topics may include: subgraphs, isomorphic graphs, degrees of vertices, trees, vertex coloring, edge coloring, Hamilton cycles, Eulerian circuits, spanning trees, matchings, scheduling, and planar graphs. Approach: Quantitative Methods (QM); Haverford: C: Physical and Natural Processes (C), Does not satisfy Haverford QU (NO_QU) Enrollment Cap: 35 |
