Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2117 A focus on overall language skills through reading and discussion of modern short essays, as well as on students’ facility in written and oral expression Audio- and videotapes of drama and films are used as study aids. Prerequisite(s): Second-year Chinese or consent of instructor; Course Description: While Third-Year Chinese continues to train students in the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, we will gradually shift from spoken language to written language whereby students will be sensitized to the differences between colloquial expressions and formal expressions, and use the different registers accordingly in the appropriate contexts. Teaching Materials: Understanding the People and the World, Book I. (Textbook) Supplementary readings & videos (Available on Moodle).
