Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2161 The goal of this course is to introduce students to a range of topics, challenges, dilemmas, and strategies to understand and educate all learners—those considered typical learners as well as those considered “special” learners. Students will learn about: how students’ learning profiles affect their ability to learn in school from a functional perspective; how and why students’ educational experience is affected by education law (especially special education law); major issues in special education; and how to meet diverse students' needs in an inclusive classroom. Two hours of fieldwork per week required. Approach: Cross-Cultural Analysis (CC); Haverford: B: Analysis of the Social World (B), Social Science (SO) Fieldwork in a school setting is an essential component of EDUC 210. Accordingly, in order to register, students are required to register for a field placement “lab-time.” While the fieldwork requirement for this course is 2-3 hours, we ask for you to reserve a four-hour block one day per week to ensure that you have adequate time for transportation to and from your field site. If you need to take the course this semester, but you are unable to register for a lab-time, please complete the following wufoo form: https://brynmawr.wufoo.com/forms/mvhfvdj01w0b78/. |
