With winter sports now in full swing, Haverford's teams have seen some impressive performances, including program top 10s and long-standing records falling. In the month of January alone, the track & field teams re-wrote program history while a pair of standout women's basketball seniors have etched their names into the top of the NCAA leaderboards.
Women’s Basketball
Senior, Cortlyn Morris
On January 4, 2023 senior Cortlyn Morris recorded 11 blocks in a 57-54 win over Gettysburg, establishing a new program record and tying the Centennial Conference (CC) record in the process.
Morris currently sits at number one in the nation in D3 with 82 total blocks, and just needs four more to become Haverford’s single-season blocks record holder, a total that would surpass Samantha Wetzel ’18’s 86 blocks during the 2017-18 season.
Senior, Kayla Robinson
Robinson currently ranks fifth in the nation in double-doubles (16), while also ranking fourth in the nation in rebounds (285) and third in rebounds per game (13.6). Robinson is currently third all-time in program history for single-season rebounds with at least four games remaining this season.
Centennial and Haverford records fell in the 5,000 meters at the Terrier Classic in Boston as Ryan Kredell crossed in 14:02.37, which ranks third in Division III and was the fifth all-time individual mark within Division III.
The previous Centennial Conference record was held by Jordan Schilit '12, who also established that time at the Terrier Classic back in 2012 with his time of 14:12.77 seconds. The previous Haverford record was set by Seamus McElligott '91 in 1991 (14:07.69)
Previously, Kredell raced to the second-fastest 3,000-meter time in Centennial Conference history (8:11.41) at the Villanova Invitational on January 21. The time is also the third-fastest in Haverford program history and ranks behind only former Haverford standout Charlie Marquardt's time of 8:06.56 on the CC all-time list.
Senior, Jamie Moreland
Moreland completed the mile run at the Boston Terrier Classic, the 33rd overall finisher with a time of 4:03.66. That explosive time paced all Division III entrants and is also the fastest time in Division III so far this season. In addition, the time is the fourth-best in Haverford program history and the eighth-fastest individual mark in Division III history.
Moreland also posted a career-best time of 1:52.93 in the 800 meters at the TCNJ Indoor Invitational, winning the event title with the best time in the Centennial Conference thus far in 2022-23. The time was also the sixth-best, and top non-converted mark in Division III so far this year.
First-year, Jory Lee
Lee finished fifth in the triple jump at the Villanova Invitational, improving on his personal best from earlier this season with a jump of 13.76 meters. The mark, which converts to 45 feet, 1.75 inches, is the fourth-best in Haverford indoor program history. Lee just narrowly missed the program top 10 in the long jump (6.12 meters or 20 feet, 1 inch).
Women’s Track & Field
First Year, Olivia D’Aulerio
400m:D'Aulerio, already making her mark on the record books all season long, decided to add another top-ten performance to her name. The first-year sprinter took first place in the 400 meters at the McElligott Invitational, running 59.97 for a sub-60 performance. With that time, she sits fourth on the Haverford all-time indoor list and is currently second in the conference.
300m: D’Aulerio set a new Haverford program record with a time of 41.72 in the 300 meters at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational in January.
60m: In the 60-meter prelims at Ursinus in December, D'Aulerio notched a second place finish with a time of 8.03, breezing into the final where she finished fourth overall in 8.18. The 8.03 mark from the preliminary heats matches the fourth-best time in the program's indoor history.
Sophomore, Katie Hirsche
Hirsche ran a personal best time of 17:50.07 to break the 18-minute barrier at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on February 4. With that time, Hirsche moved up to ninth on Haverford's all-time list for the distance.
Senior, Jahsiah Moses
Moses ran an 8.13 in the 60-meter dash at the Collegeville Classic on January 21, ranking as the sixth-best time in Haverford program history.
First Year, Sarah Wilcher
Wilcher improved on her performance from a week ago, throwing out to 11.19m (36ft, 8.5 in). In the shot put at the McElligott Invitational Wilcher’s mark is also eighth in Haverford program history.
