Haverford & Our Neighbors

The College welcomes neighbors and other visitors to explore our campus, arboretum, trails, and events. The resources included here are not encyclopedic, but provide an overview of the opportunities, resources, and mailing lists available to those interested.

Visitors on the Haverford College Nature Trail

General Information

Haverford College is an open campus, and visitors are welcome. With the exception of scheduled events, though, the campus closes to visitors at dusk.

We also ask the following:

  • Please leash and clean up after your dog
  • Thank you for not smoking or bringing alcohol on campus

Public bathrooms are available on the ground floor of the Whitehead Campus Center during normal business hours. Whitehead Campus Center is also home to the Coop Café, and our College Bookstore.

The Libraries also always welcome visitors, who are asked to sign in upon entering. Renovation of Magill Library began in January 2018, and spaces will be temporarily relocated to the White Science Library in the KINSC and to Founders Hall.

As a result of our Library construction project, and in order to ensure sufficient available parking for those who live, work, and study here, the College has adjusted the parking regulations. Beginning Monday, February 5th, the South Parking Lot will be permit only Monday–Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

 Arboretum Association

Haverford College's campus is a nationally recognized arboretum with 400 species of trees and shrubs, a 3.5-acre duck pond, gardens, and wooded areas. The 2.2-mile Nature Trail winds along much of the College’s outer perimeter, and can be most easily joined from overflow parking near the Haverford College Apartments.

Arboretum Association Members receive invitations to lectures and special events, as well as a quarterly newsletter. Support helps the Arboretum’s efforts to plant and maintain the trees on our historic and beautiful campus. Visit the Arboretum Association website for more information or to become a member.
