Valentina Zavala-Arbelaez joined HIAS Pennsylvania’s Asylee Outreach Program and Advocacy teams as a HaverPhilly Alumni Fellow. On the AOP team, Valentina utilizes her fluency in Spanish to connect legal and social services with Spanish-speaking asylees. Valentina’s long term professional focuses are to continue uplifting vulnerable immigrant communities through legal, social, and educational support while moving towards systemic change.
Valentina graduated from Haverford College in May 2021 with a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Educational Studies and concentration in Latin American, Iberian, & Latino/a Studies. During her undergraduate career, Valentina was involved with HIAS Pennsylvania as CPGC summer fellow and Puentes de Salud as a tutor. In her free time, she enjoys community-building through skateboarding.
