Mercedes Davis is a HaverPhilly Alumni Fellow partnered with Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA). She is undertaking a hybrid role within the General Intake Unit (GIU) and the Development and Communications Department. This unique position allows her to work as both an Intake Paralegal, connecting low-income individuals and families in Philadelphia with legal assistance, as well as, a Communications and Outreach Associate, increasing the awareness and accessibility of legal services within the city of Philadelphia. Her goal is to safeguard the rights of clients and redefine their inequitable experiences when attempting to access legal resources.
Mercedes holds a BA in Sociology and Educational Studies from Haverford College. Prior to her fellowship, Mercedes volunteered as a Research Associate with the Ida B. Wells JUST Data Lab at Princeton University. This experience informed her professional interest in data justice. She intends to pursue work that lies at the intersection of data, policy, and law.
