Deborah Ekwale is the Program Assistant at the African Family Health Organization (AFAHO) as a HaverPhilly Alumni Fellow. At AFAHO, Deborah helps African and Caribbean immigrants in Philadelphia navigate the American healthcare system and access resources needed to achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency. By way of her academic endeavors and lived experiences as an immigrant, Deborah is utterly passionate about minority health and eradicating healthcare disparities across all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups.
Deborah graduated from Bryn Mawr College in May 2021 with a B.A. in Public Health and a minor in Africana Studies. Her research interests include: Global Africa, Population and Health, and Holistic Wellness. In her free time, Deborah enjoys fashion, film, and photography.
