Ara Serjoie joined Haverford College as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement in August 2021. In this role, he oversees all aspects of fundraising, alumnae/i engagement, parent relations, communications, and many of the special events that strengthen the relationship between Haverford and the College's constituents. Ara's career has spanned higher education, youth development, and health care and he has led advancement offices at four different institutions prior to arriving at Haverford. Passionate about doing good for society, he is a firm believer in the values-based education that is the hallmark of Haverford's distinction in the higher education sphere. Ara lived in Tehran, West Berlin, and London before moving to the United States to pursue post-secondary education. He earned his Ph.D. in higher education leadership and human resource studies at Colorado State University. Ara also holds a master’s in public administration from the University of Utah with an emphasis in nonprofit leadership and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from Utah State University. In his spare time, Ara likes to garden, go on long walks with his dogs, read novels and biographical accounts, dine out or cook special meals with his partner Darrell.
