Before Haverford Brian served in academic support at the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University and Thomas Jefferson University. Brian specializes in helping students develop strategic approaches to their studies that promote deep learning. Brian is interested in investigating the ‘hidden curriculum’ of college and helps students understand the unfamiliar expectations, demands and social practices associated with the transition to college and becoming a scholar. In the OAR Brian coaches students about their learning, leads workshops, and directs the peer instruction program. Brian started in higher education by teaching for two years in the English Department at the Community College of Philadelphia. Brian is excited to be at Haverford, a small liberal arts college, and looks forward to working with students, faculty and staff here to continue his commitment and passion for elevating the discourse around teaching and learning.
