Together with Humanities
Student Assessment Program
Assessment is an essential and ongoing component of the “Together with Humanities” program.
Inspired by the Students as Learners and Teachers (SaLT) program developed through the Bi-Co Teaching and Learning Institute (TLI), each TwH course will be paired with a Student Assessment Partner, who will collaborate with course faculty, TwH staff, and other student partners to assess the impact of our courses and develop recommendations for improvement.
Student Assessment Partners will work up to eight hours per week as a paid researcher and consultant, where they will:
- Collaborate with a team of students, faculty, and staff to design research questions and assessment goals
- Apply key qualitative research skills in an educational assessment setting, including observation, interviews, and data annotation and synthesis
- Provide recommendations to faculty, staff, and granting agencies that shape the future of humanities and language coursework at Haverford
Employment Opportunities
We are now hiring Student Assessment Partners for Fall 2024! Partners may not be enrolled in the course that they are evaluating, and must be available to attend at least one course meeting per week; for course clusters, partners must be available to attend both courses regularly. To apply, we ask that you:
- Fill out a short application survey indicating why you are interested in the position
- Secure two recommendations, one from a student and one from a member of the Haverford or Bryn Mawr faculty, staff, or administration
- Have recommenders send a very brief but substantive recommendation via email to Emily Drummond (edrummond [at] haverford.edu) explaining why you would be an effective consultant
- Recommenders should comment on your capacity to i) analyze and brainstorm solutions to complex pedagogical issues; ii) carry out research independently and collaboratively; and iii) communicate respectfully and effectively
Applications for Student Assessment Partners are due by Friday, September 13. Please contact Emily Drummond (edrummond [at] haverford.edu) with any questions about the role or the program.
