2025 Together with Humanities Summer Fellows Announced

Details
This academic year marked the first year of Together with Humanities, a Mellon-funded initiative at Haverford that supports engagement with language(s), community, and power through coursework and co-curricular engagement.
This summer, Together with Humanities has awarded five fellowships to students pursuing summer experiences with domestic and international community-serving organizations. The selected fellowships build upon concepts, skills, and relationships developed in Together with Humanities courses offered this academic year, including American Sign Language (LING 011), Learning Together: Introduction to Co-Creating with Communities (SPAN 226), Structure of Colonial Valley Zapotec (LING 215), and Introduction to Zapotec (LING 010).
Our five TwH fellows are continuing and graduating students from both Haverford and Bryn Mawr, whose fellowships act as a bridge to future academic and career pathways. Two students are pursuing fellowships with organizations in the Philadelphia region, while the remaining three students are traveling together to Oaxaca, Mexico. In these contexts, they will continue to learn and apply their knowledge of three linguistically and culturally diverse languages, namely American Sign Language, Spanish, and Dizhsa (San Lucas Quiaviní Zapotec), engaging with community partners who use and advocate for their languages on a daily basis.
Congratulations to all of our fellows, who worked closely with their Together with Humanities faculty and partner organizations to develop strong proposals! Stay up to date with our fellows this summer by following Together with Humanities on Instagram: @togetherwithhumanities.
