Haverford College meets the needs of students eligible for financial aid, whether they are at Haverford or on approved study abroad programs. Students can apply their financial aid awards, including their Haverford grant funds, toward their approved program abroad.
In order to be eligible, students must fill out Haverford’s International Academic Programs Declaration form by October 5 for spring programs, or February 5 for fall and full-year programs. Students must submit the required financial aid forms to the Financial Aid Office no later than April 20, and should contact the Financial Aid Office if they have any questions. Some international programs also have sources of financial aid, and students are required to apply for them.
Financial aid covers tuition, room, board, insurance, and some miscellaneous expenses such as books and supplies. It does not cover entertainment or travel. Financial aid will only be awarded for one semester of study unless there is an academic imperative to go for the full year such as language study for a major or the full year programs at Oxford, Cambridge and the LSE. Students will not be funded for study on two separate programs.
Airfare Allowance Credit
Only qualified students receiving Haverford grant funds will receive an airfare allowance if their family income is less than $100,000. Students studying either for a semester or for a full academic year (if approved by the International Academic Programs Faculty Advisory Board) will receive only one airfare allowance credit. The amount will be credited towards the student's Haverford tuition bill.

International students are permitted to use their Haverford financial aid to participate in a Haverford approved study abroad program during the academic year. However, international students will not be able to use their financial aid to participate in programs in their home country. Going home to study does not fit the cultural immersion goals of the Office of International Academic Programs.
