Haverford College meets the needs of students eligible for financial aid, whether they are at Haverford or on approved study abroad programs. Students can apply their financial aid awards, including their Haverford grant funds, toward their approved program abroad.
Haverford College grant funds are based on need, and are determined by a need-analysis formula using data provided on the College Board’s CSS Profile application. For the procedures to apply for financial aid, refer to the Haverford Financial Aid Office.
Students can apply their financial aid awards, including their Haverford grant funds, toward their approved program abroad.
Study abroad costs may differ from comparable costs to attend the Haverford campus, and may cause Haverford grants to increase or decrease, in accordance with the need-based policy. Because the amount of grant a student receives is based on his/her overall cost of study, Haverford Grants cannot be targeted toward specific expenses. Grant funds cannot be applied toward personal expenses, travel, entertainment, insurance, visas, or passports. Students will not be funded for study on two separate programs.
Some international programs also have sources of financial aid, and students are required to apply for them.
The following statement was issued by the Financial Aid Office. For more information, please refer to the financial aid FAQ specific to study abroad students. Questions can be sent to the Financial Aid Office at email@example.com.
Airfare Allowance Credit
Only qualified students receiving Haverford grant funds will receive an airfare allowance if their family income is less than $100,000. Students studying either for a semester or for a full academic year (if approved by the International Academic Programs Faculty Advisory Board) will receive only one airfare allowance credit. The amount will be credited towards the student's Haverford tuition bill.

International students are permitted to use their Haverford financial aid to participate in a Haverford approved study abroad program during the academic year. However, international students will not be able to use their financial aid to participate in programs in their home country. Going home to study does not fit the cultural immersion goals of the Office of International Academic Programs.
