Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science
Haverford College, a selective liberal arts college in suburban Philadelphia, seeks to hire a full- time Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science starting spring semester 2018.
This position may continue into the 2018-19 academic year, contingent on department staffing needs and budgetary considerations. Qualified applicants interested in a full time position beginning fall 2018 are encouraged to apply as well.
Preference will be given to candidates whose research areas broaden the expertise in the department, but candidates in all areas of Computer Science are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science (A.B.D. considered for appointment at the Instructor level) and excellent teaching skills. The Department especially seeks candidates with interest and capacity to teach and retain a broadly diverse student body including, but not limited to, women and minorities, persons with disabilities, and other groups underrepresented in Computer Science.
The Computer Science Department offers academic programs for majors and minors, graduating 15–30 majors per year, and the candidate will be expected to teach courses from the introductory to the advanced undergraduate levels, potentially advising undergraduate senior thesis research. The full teaching assignment is 2.5 courses per semester, with faculty-led lab sessions counting as partial credits.
