2020-2022 Full-Time Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry
The Haverford College Chemistry Department seeks applications for a full-time (five courses per year teaching load) faculty position, in the general area of synthetic chemistry, for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The position is renewable for the 2021-22 academic year, contingent upon completion of a successful performance review and pending budgetary approval. Candidates are expected to contribute to our curriculum at a variety of levels, including key participation in our third-year advanced integrated laboratory courses for chemistry majors and also mentorship of undergraduate students in laboratory research. The department is especially interested to advance the priorities of inclusion and diversity throughout the curriculum.
Haverford College is a top-tier small liberal arts college that lies 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. The department has a long tradition of promoting student research; students majoring in chemistry complete integrated laboratory training as juniors and are required to participate in a year-long senior thesis experience. Many students participate in research even before their junior year.
Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related area by July 1, 2020. Candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, and a brief statement of teaching interests and professional goals. Names and contact information for three professional references should be provided. Applications will be reviewed beginning late January and continue until the position is filled, but to assure full consideration, applications should be received by February 15, 2020. Application materials should be submitted using Interfolio: http://apply.interfolio.com/73104 .
