The purpose of stretch club is to encourage students on campus to improve their health and physical flexibility by taking time to stretch their muscles. Stretching is a critical part of preventing injury for athletes or anyone who engages in high energy physical activity, and we want to create a space where students feel comfortable taking the time to stretch, and not just for two minutes before a game or performance. As a dancer and a rhythmic gymnast, we recognize that at times it can be difficult to find a place to stretch at Haverford, as the GIAC can feel dominated or belonging to only sports teams. We want to have a club that is dedicated to stretching to allow students to feel comfortable rather than judged for their "athletic" capability. Stretch club would be open to all students on campus, so long as they have an open mind and a willingness to stretch!
