Martial Arts Alliance is a club sport that teaches and practices a variety of martial arts for self defense. Presently, we focus on tae-kwan-do and some basic grappling/ground work. We are open towards all levels of experience and are especially good with beginners.
Our goal is to develop and sharpen our martial arts skills. For beginners, this means gaining basic competency with punches, kicks, footwork and comfort with sparring (fighting an opponent while wearing protective gear and possibly a mouth piece). For someone with experience, this means (1) exposure to different forms of martial arts and (2) frequent sparring with peers or co-heads who are about your level of speed, fluidity, ferocity and sophistication. Ultimately, our vision is to develop a community of competent and formidable martial artists who better themselves through (1) learning and practicing techniques and (2) playful, respectful and combative sparring.
