The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC) has named its 2018–2019 Haverford House Fellows. These six seniors, who were selected for the fellowship for their commitment to social justice and community action, will spend this next year after their College graduation working four days per week with nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia region and sharing a house together in the West Philadelphia neighborhood of Cedar Park. The fellows, who serve as liaisons between the CPGC and social action agencies, as well as collaborators with Haverford community members, will dedicate their fifth workday to projects that engage the College with local groups devoted to creating a more socially just, healthy, and vibrant community.

The 2018–2019 Haverford House Fellows and their host organizations are:

• Linguistics major, religion minor, and Africana studies concentrator Sabea Evans will work for the Center for Hunger-Free Communities
• Anthropology major, Spanish minor, and peace, justice, and human rights concentrator Callie Kennedy will work for Puentes de Salud
• Psychology major and economics minor Claire Michel will work for the Committee of Seventy
• Sociology major and education studies minor TJ von Oehsen will work for the Education Law Center
• Growth and structure of cities major and environmental studies minor Sara Ozawa will work for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society
• Political science major and Latin American, Iberian, and Latino studies minor Jason Sanchez will work for Community Legal Services
