Update in CAPS ADD/ADHD prescription policy
Details
Students sometimes matriculate at the College with a diagnosis of ADD/ADHD and a prescription for a psychostimulant (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse). When this is the case, we expect that medical oversight and prescription responsibility will be continued via the hometown physician.
Students also come to the College wondering if they have ADD/ADHD and whether they could benefit from treatment, including the use of medication. When this is the case, we at CAPS offer the student a consultation with our psychiatrist. Following a comprehensive evaluation, which includes psychological testing, the CAPS psychiatrist in conjunction with the student might decide to prescribe medication as part of a larger treatment strategy. Students, however, are referred to off campus professionals for this required psychological testing. Some sliding scale or low fee resources are available.
