Philadelphia’s virtuoso choir THE CROSSING with conductor Donald Nally (newly appointed Director of Choral Organizations at Northwestern University) and organist Ken Lovett give an encore performance of Ruth Marshall Magill Professor of Music Curt Cacioppo’s Vermillion Vespers Saturday, May 12th at 8 PM at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue.  The work, also know as the “Cantata of the Angels,” came about as a commission from a prominent Venetian family, and is a celebration of musical styles from Gregorian chant to contemporary choral sounds that embraces the vocabulary of the great masters as well as the irresistible neo-melodic idiom popular today in Italy.  The solo organ writing runs the gamut from intimate colors and inflections to dynamic and triumphant pillars of sonority.  Pre-concert talk by the composer at 7 PM.  For ticket information, log onto  Due to demand, advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended.  Save 10% with pre-order.
