The Future of Science

Associate professor of physics Stephon Alexander is among a group of top young scientists whose cutting edge work is featured in the new book What’s Next: Dispatches on the Future of Science. Just out from Vintage, the book collects 18 essays written for the general public by the scientists themselves about their investigations into neuroscience, virology, climate change, evolutionary biology, animal behavior and a wide range of other subjects.  Alexander, whose scholarship focuses  on theoretical cosmology, quantum gravity and particle physics, contributed an essay titled “Just What is Dark Energy?”

The Strawbridge Observatory at Haverford College houses 12-inch and 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes which are actively used by students in Haverford astronomy classes.
