Haverford's Campaign Builds Momentum as Pat Gallagher Joins the College

Details
A seasoned advancement professional, Gallagher will propel the College's campaign and support the goals of Haverford 2030.
When Pat Gallagher joins Haverford as assistant vice president for advancement and campaign director on Aug. 15, his proven experience will provide a boost to the College's early campaign fundraising efforts. Pat has kept an eye on Haverford from down the road at Villanova University, where he has held multiple roles since 2015, and developed an admiration for its mission and values.
"I am deeply honored to serve Haverford College, an incomparable and leading liberal arts institution, in this important role," Pat said. "Togetherness is a feeling I believe we all crave in one way or another, especially when working on or toward a shared vision. Haverford College—under the guidance and leadership of President Wendy Raymond and its Board of Managers—seems to have it, that togetherness, and has assuredly made the many members of its community feel very much part of it as well."
Gallagher's most recent role at Villanova was as associate dean for development and alumni relations at Charles Widger School of Law. There, he led the law school's advancement team for the past two years, after a period of six years leading advancement efforts for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Working in partnership with Vice President for Institutional Advancement Kim Spang, Gallagher will lead all Haverford's philanthropic and campaign efforts.
"Pat's depth of experience in higher education as well as his obvious warmth and curiosity made him stand out among the other highly talented candidates in this national search," says Spang. "I'm delighted that Pat is joining our skilled team at Haverford, and I look forward to introducing him to our community. With his help, I am confident we will continue to advance this exciting new campaign to support the goals in the Haverford 2030 strategic plan."
A Villanova alum, Gallagher also earned his MBA from the university after completing an MS in sports management at Drexel University. He has served on Villanova's Ethics Program Advisory Council, as well as a mentor in the University's School of Business Mentoring Program. He also served on the boards of the nonprofits Girls on the Run, Philadelphia, and the organization Coaches vs. Cancer of Philadelphia. He currently resides in Haverford Township with his wife, Carin, and their three boys.
Prior to his work in higher education, Gallagher served in a variety of leadership positions with advertising agencies in New York City where he worked with c-suite executives at Fortune 500 companies on their marketing campaigns. He is a seasoned philanthropic advisor and team leader with diverse career experience in finance, advertising, college athletics administration, and major gift fundraising.
Haverford's campaign completed its first year on June 30, and has ambitious goals to raise significant funds to support a range of initiatives, including scholarship funds for students, creating at least one paid summer experience for all undergraduates, and growing the College's endowment to provide more resources now and for generations to come.
"The entire Haverford College community is poised to achieve even greater heights as we offer students better learning for a broader impact as scholars, creators, citizens and practitioners," he says. "I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to celebrating and expanding on the accomplishments of Fords here on campus and beyond. This is more than a job for me, and I am excited to see what we can accomplish for the betterment of Haverford College and the lives and communities that Fords go on to serve."
