Student Biography

Nina Salinger '07 majored in biology, minored in chemistry and was an HHMI interdisciplinary scholar at Haverford. Nina's long-standing interest in infectious disease was sharpened by her reading of 'And the Band Played On', an early chronicle of the AIDS epidemic by Randy Shilts, which inspired her to biograph an HIV research paper. Nina graduated magna cum laude with high honors in biology. She has continued to pursue her interests in microbiology, first as a research associate at the University of Pennsylvania and then as an MD/PhD student at Emory University.
