Haverford College seeks to hire a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round, non-exempt, benefit-eligible Groundskeeper.
The Groundskeeper is responsible for landscape maintenance operations, including all elements of lawns, walks, and roadways, as well as minor hardscape repairs and maintenance of secondary areas. This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to work during periods of inclement weather when the College is closed for a weather emergency.

Work Location: Haverford College
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor such as litter pick-up and trash removal, cleaning of storm drains and curbs, raking and removal of leaves, removal of snow and the application of ice control materials, setting up chairs and bleachers for special events, and clearing brush
- Operate basic power equipment and tools, such as small tractors, lawnmowers, string trimmers, edgers, leaf blowers, wood chippers, walk-behind blowers, and chainsaws
- Apply fertilizers by hand and push the spreader
- Assist in turf renovation and repair
- Other duties as assigned
Line of Report: This position reports to the Grounds Manager and has no direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in Grounds Maintenance
Professional Competencies
- Ability to interact with the campus community in a positive manner
- Ability to work alone or with a crew of 5 or more people
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of landscaping experience

Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 12 background checks
- Possession of a valid U.S. Drivers’ License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
