About Office of Academic Resources (OAR)
The Office of Academic Resources (OAR) at Haverford College is committed to delivering equitable learning outcomes across the academic program through collaborative design of peer instructional programs outside of the classroom. The OAR is a leader on campus, and in the field of learning assistance, on peer/instructional design. Employing over 80 students (6% of campus) every academic year, we provide robust training and ongoing reflective practice activities for student academic coaches, tutors, and teaching assistants. We work closely with faculty to provide supplemental structures that foster the confidence and competence for students to academically thrive. However, there’s still a lot of work to do towards improving structures and relationships that foster and sustain strong academic sense of belonging among many cohorts of students across campus and class years. This position will work directly with the OAR team (professional and peer) in the design, facilitation, and assessment of our efforts to build better learning support programs and structures. This position is designed to integrate the candidate into the exciting and fulfilling field of learning assistance in practice and scholarship.
The OAR is Haverford College’s learning center and provides curricular support to strengthen student learning, persistence, and scholarship through reciprocal learning and reflection activities, while building an inclusive community of care and empowerment. We are a center where knowledge is generated for transformative purposes, both at individual and institutional levels.
