From Classics to Cosmology

Recently released results of the Planck space telescope’s sky survey are giving us a whole new picture of the universe. Classics major Ben Walter ’13 has been working with Emeritus Professor of Astronomy Bruce Partridge to sharpen scientists’ reports on the game-changing data.

In the Collection: Maxfield Parrish

In the Collection

Artist and illustrator Maxfield Parrish, Class of 1892, already showed great promise while a student here, as evidenced by his fabulously illustrated chemistry notebook. The notebook is part of the Maxfield Parrish Collection, which includes letters, manuscripts, original sketches and drawings, and other items.

"In the Collection" highlights some of the rare and marvelous items that are part of Magill Library's Special Collections.

Wartime Haverford

The Army Specialized Training Program (or A.S.T.P.) included basic engineering, foreign area and language studies, which were taught at Haverford in 1943 and 1944, as part of the program to add non-combatant service students during World War II.
