The 11 upperclass students who live in Music and Arts House came together last spring to create a space for artists to collaborate and share their work with the greater Haverford community.

The other community houses are the long-running eHaus, a cooperative focused on environmental sustainability; Nerd House, which has brought strategy board game nights, Miyazaki movie screenings, and a Haverfest Renaissance Faire; and Quaker House and Christian House, which are both faith-themed intentional communities.

Every Haverford major includes a capstone project. In her History of Art senior thesis, Jenna McKinley '15 hypothesized that simplicity and lack of embellishment—not low neckline—was behind much of the outrage directed at this painting.

Junior Brittany Steel spoke to Haverford Magazine about the unusual heart condition that temporarily derailed her athletic career, as well as "yoga for track" and how she learned just how long a second actually is.

The average financial aid grant awarded to Haverford students is $40,014, and more than 50% of students receive some form of financial aid from the College. On National Philanthropy Day (Nov. 12), students were invited to write thank you notes to alumni who have contributed to the Annual Fund this year.

For students looking to forge close connections around shared interests, Haverford offers special interest housing choices, such as La Casa Hispánica (for those attuned to the culture of the Spanish-speaking world); Cadbury House (quiet study, and alcohol and drug-free); and the Ira De A. Reid House (devoted to extending the legacy of Reid, a renowned sociologist and Haverford’s first tenured African American faculty member).
