KINSC Scientific Imaging Contest

The KINSC Scientific Imaging Contest is an annual competition for student-submitted images from experiments or simulations that are scientifically intriguing as well as aesthetically pleasing. Judging is based on both the quality of the image and the explanation of the underlying science.

The 2018 second-place winner: Reilly Milburn '19, "Simulated submillimeter galaxies generated using Powderday and YT showing extremely high density (i.e., stars and dust) in white."

The 2018 third-place winner: Yixuan Zhou '20, Fringes in a photoelastic particle when it was squeezed diametrically. This research was advised by Assistant Professor Ted Brzinski.
