Internship Opportunity: Pennsylvania House of Representatives Archives
Details
An internship program for students interested in public history.
This internship provides a great opportunity for students interested in public history to gain valuable training and experience which can be applied later to their professional careers. Interns are offered insight into the archival profession and the political history of both the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Commonwealth.
The internship is a structured educational experience designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience that complements students' academic work. Interns work along side professional archivists and research staff on both special projects and on-going programs. Interns' responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, arranging, describing, preserving and making records available for research. Interns may perform routine genealogical and legislative research.
In addition to the hands-on activities, reading material on the role and value of archives is made available, and tours of local archival, historical and political sites are organized with the intention of providing interns with both practical and academic knowledge.
