  • A day-long visit to the D.C. headquarters of the IMF gave students from Haverford's economics department a new perspective on the global economy. The trip was co-organized by visiting professor Biswajit Banerjee, who worked at the IMF for 26 years.

  • The grant will allow Frasat Ahmad, Michele Buonora, and Emilyn Sosa, all Class of '11, to study abroad during the spring semester.

  • Associate Professor of Music Heidi Jacob was commissioned by the trio L'Ensemble to write music for the poems of acclaimed author Julia Alvarez. They were performed at a bi-college event in December.
  • A scale model of Canterbury Cathedral, some meat pies, and a witty video on Medieval sexual mores were just a few of the creative final projects conceived by students in Associate Professor of English Maud McInerney's Chaucer class.

  • Haverford College welcomes Joe Spadaro of St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY, as our new Chief Information Officer. We look forward to Joe's arrival on February 1, 2010.

  • Lynette Mattke '91 is the creator of PicPocket Books, an application that allows users to download children's picture books to iPhones or iPods.
  • The program, sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, provides Fellows with stipends to pursue research and attend events such as November's Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, where four Haverford students presented their work.
  • Assistant professor of mathematics Joshua M. Sabloff answers that question in an article that appears in the new issue of Notices of the American Mathematical Society, the worlds most widely read magazine aimed at professional mathematicians. Sabloff's article is part of a series designed to introduce members of the Society to important current topics.
  • As part of a seminar he's taking at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad, Richards traveled to the frigid country to investigate climate change up close.
