  • Silber was recently named CEO of Canonical, the London-based firm founded by billionaire software entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth. Silber has been with Canonical since its start as the launching pad for Ubuntu, the open source computer operating system that has become one of the most popular Linux distributions in the world.
  • Haverford's Quaker student group QuaC has received a grant to fund a series of visits to other Quaker-affiliated colleges across the country. The aim: to build stronger ties and learn from each other.

  • Over the break, the physics professor and Haverford alumnus traveled to his home country of Trinidad to give a presentation at the International School for Young Astronomers.
  • A day-long visit to the D.C. headquarters of the IMF gave students from Haverford's economics department a new perspective on the global economy. The trip was co-organized by visiting professor Biswajit Banerjee, who worked at the IMF for 26 years.

  • A scale model of Canterbury Cathedral, some meat pies, and a witty video on Medieval sexual mores were just a few of the creative final projects conceived by students in Associate Professor of English Maud McInerney's Chaucer class.
