Health & Supports
Please Note: Updated information for the Class of 2024 will be available in early June. Customs Week begins Wednesday, August 26, 2020. However, we encourage students and families to wait to make travel arrangements until mid-June as some students will have earlier move-in dates due to participation in Pre-Customs programs or pre-season athletics.

Insurance: Enroll or Waive (Required)
All students are required to have personal medical insurance and must provide proof of insurance via the HaverHealth Portal.
Each year, all students are automatically billed the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium charge by the Controller's Office. Students must complete a waiver on the First Student site by July 6, 2020 to have this charge removed. It takes 5 business days to see the charge removed from your tuition bill.
Enroll or Waive SHIP
SHIP is administered by First Risk Advisors. They will send information directly to students via postcards and email.
- After the portal opens visit the First Student site and create an account. Use your Haverford email address as the username.
- Enroll or Waive in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) by July 6, 2020.
- If you enroll in SHIP, download your Insurance ID Card from the First Student portal.
- International students are automatically enrolled in SHIP and may not waive their coverage.
Provide Proof of Insurance
- Visit the HaverHealth Portal and register for an account.
- When registering you must add two zeros (00) to the front of your student ID, which can be found in the SER.
- You will be able to access the HaverHealth Portal within 48 hours of the time you activate your Haverford account.
- Upload a copy of both sides of your Insurance ID Card to the HaverHealth Portal by July 6, 2020.
Please continue to check your emails to make sure that all Health Records requirements are met prior to arrival to campus.
To learn more about SHIP, please review the information provided on the SHIP details page of the Health Services site or contact Health Services at (610) 896-1089. All insurance calls will be answered within 48 hours.
Enroll or Waive Insurance Deadline: July 6, 2020
The website to enroll or waive will open in early June.
Note: Students who do not complete a waiver by August 1, 2020 cannot have the SHIP charge removed from their tuition bill and will be expected to pay the insurance premium.
The College suggests purchasing the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) if you have a high deductible, HMO, or out of state insurance plan that does not work well in the Philadelphia area.

Consent Tutorial (Required)
Sexual assault and sexual misconduct are acts of sexual violence that violate Haverford's foundational principles as embodied in our Honor Code. They have no place at Haverford. That said, we do not live in a bubble, and so are not immune from such behaviors. We must invest time, energy, and vigilance in our continued efforts to keep our community safe from sexual misconduct and sexual violence. We want students to have the knowledge and skills to understand the meaning of consent as well as to be an active bystander, who intervenes when anyone is observed being harassed or endangered by sexual violence.
How to Complete the Training: You will receive an email to you Haverford Email Account from our training partner, Get Inclusive, in mid-July of 2020. Simply follow the link in that email to begin the training. The training module is self-paced and will take around 20-30 minutes to complete.
Consent Tutorial Deadline: August 15, 2020
Note: You will receive an email from Get Inclusive in mid-July.

Record Your Name Pronunciation (Optional)
On August 3, you'll receive an email with information about recording your name pronunciation from a system called Name Coach. It’s not phishing, or a scam (but it’s good to be vigilant!); it’s just an external platform Haverford uses. Name Coach is a project from the Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Provost's Office, allowing you to record the pronunciation of your name for others to hear, and then, to pronounce correctly.
Name Coach is integrated into Moodle, the course platform we use, and you will see links on the class pages to access all recordings from students in that class. If you explore the Name Coach site, and the "Name Badge" page in particular, you’ll see a number of features, including the ability to insert the recording of your name into your email signature. It’s also helpful if you create a password for convenient access to your NameCoach account in the future.

Religious Affiliation Survey (Optional)
Religious and Spiritual Life on campus at Haverford College is supported through the Quaker Affairs Office. As they work to support students of faith, it is helpful to know the numbers and the breadth of religious practice on campus. Response to this survey is strictly optional and your specific information will only be shared with your permission.
If you have any questions about the survey, about Quakerism, or religious life on campus, connect with Walter at email@example.com.
Religious Affiliation Survey Deadline: August 1, 2020
